SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of William Chapel "Bill" Burrows of Rock
4Island, who passed away on November 13, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bill Burrows was born to Dan and Lenore Burrows
6in Albuquerque, New Mexico on April 28, 1931; he graduated
7from the New Mexico Military Institute; he received his
8bachelor's degree in Agronomy from Colorado A&M College; he
9earned his master's and doctorate degrees in Soil
10Physics/Agricultural Climatology from Iowa State University;
11he married Miriam Finch in Fort Collins, Colorado on June 8,
121952; he served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 to 1954; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Bill Burrows was active in many agronomy and
14meteorological societies, and he authored or co-authored a
15number of papers for these organizations; he served as an
16editor of the Proceedings of the International Conference on
17Mechanized Dryland Farming and served on several committees of
18the National Academy of Sciences; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Bill Burrows had a very fulfilling career at
20Deere & Co. from 1965 until he took early retirement in 1987;

1    WHEREAS, Bill Burrows was a member of the Quad Cities
2Computer Society and the RICO Illinois Genealogical Society;
3he enjoyed researching genealogy and trail riding with Miriam
4during his retirement; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bill Burrows is survived by his wife, Miriam; his
6daughters, Marsha Chappell, Sharon (Rod) Burnell, Connie
7(John) DeSautelle, and Becky (Mark) Catlett; his
8grandchildren, Nathan Moross, Ben (Jordan) Chappell, Cassie
9(Will) Boucher, and Trent Catlett; and his
10great-grandchildren, Wyatt Boucher and Memphis Boucher;
11therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14William Chapel "Bill" Burrows and extend our sincere
15condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
16him; and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Bill Burrows as an expression of our
19deepest sympathy.
