SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Maria Dolores (Rengers) Rodriguez of
4Long Grove; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Maria Rodriguez was born in 1959; she grew up in
6Glenview; she graduated from Marillac High School and the
7University of Illinois at Chicago; she was a resident of Long
8Grove for 33 years; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Maria Rodriguez was the past village president, a
10trustee, and the clerk of Long Grove; she was a candidate for
11U.S. Congress in 2010 and ran for lieutenant governor as a
12Republican in 2014; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Maria Rodriguez served as liturgical coordinator
14for St. Mary Parish in Buffalo Grove and was active in the
15Chicago Diocese; she also shepherded a herd of livestock in
16Long Grove for 23 years; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Maria Rodriguez was known for her positive
18spirit, and she was proud to be a published author and an
19esteemed public speaker; she will be deeply missed by her
20family, her dog Truman, and a multitude of friends; and

1    WHEREAS, Maria Rodriguez was the wife of Raymond "Ray"
2Rodriguez for 41 years; the mother of Leah (Ryan) McKeithan,
3Raymond Rodriguez Jr., and Sophia (Christopher) Dahle; the
4grandmother of Dean and Dylan; the daughter of Dolores
5(Geisler) and the late Leo Rengers; the sister of David (Debi)
6Rengers, Anthony "AJ" (Brenda) Rengers, Alexander (Maria)
7Rengers, Barbara (Thomas) Labotka, and John Rengers; and the
8aunt, cousin, and friend of many; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Maria Dolores (Rengers) Rodriguez and extend our sincere
12condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
13her; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Maria Rodriguez as an expression of
16our deepest sympathy.
