SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Roger L. Behm of Port Byron, who
4passed away on October 19, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Roger Behm was born to Walter and Leona (Fromme)
6Behm in Moline on August 14, 1942; he graduated from Port Byron
7High School in 1960; he served in the U.S. Army during the
8Vietnam Era from 1966 to 1968; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Roger Behm held various jobs during his life,
10including working at the former Port Byron State Bank for
11several years; he also had a long history of working at the
12funeral home in Port Byron, which included washing cars for
13Dailey Mortuary as a teenager and working as a funeral
14assistant and on the ambulance for Leon Gibson; he retired
15from his duties as a funeral assistant for the Gibson - Bode
16Funeral Home in 2016; he also worked for Illini Hospital,
17driving the hospital's Care Van, for over 15 years; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Roger Behm loved ballroom dancing with his
19longtime partner, Shirley Meade, and they traveled the
20Midwest, following their favorite bands, Jack Morgan and Lonny
21Lynn, and cherishing the many friendships they made along the
22way; he enjoyed his daily walks through Port Byron, which were

1usually extended by visiting with everyone he encountered
2along his path; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Roger Behm was preceded in death by his parents
4and his sister, Joyce Beale; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Roger Behm is survived by his children, Pamela
6(Richard Jr.) Snell and David (Terry) Behm; his grandchildren,
7Richard Snell III (Emily Burke), Emma Snell, Lauren Behm, Cal
8Behm, and Kendall Behm; his special friend of 34 years,
9Shirley Meade; and his former wife, Pat MacGowan; therefore,
10be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Roger L. Behm and extend our sincere condolences to his
14family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Roger Behm as an expression of our
18deepest sympathy.
