SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Mark Scott McCollom, who passed away
4on September 20, 2021 at the age of 64; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Mark McCollom was born on June 18, 1957; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Mark McCollom was an alumnus of Loyola
7University; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Mark McCollom was affectionately called "The
9Voice of the Raiders", announcing football games for the Most
10Holy Redeemer Parish football team in Evergreen Park; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Mark McCollom abided by the faith in action
12principle; he was a board member of Chicago Catholic Charities
13and was co-founder of the Monsignor Boland Chicago Catholic
14Charities Golf Outing in the late 1990s, raising millions of
15dollars for the poor and homeless; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Mark McCollom spearheaded community efforts to
17acquire and install the Evergreen Park High School football
18lights and the Duffy Park scoreboard and lights; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Mark McCollom valued family above all and could

1be counted on to donate the "shirt off his back" to help others
2in need; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Mark McCollom was preceded in death by his
4parents, Walter and Merle; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Mark McCollom is survived by his best friend and
6wife of 40 years, Julie Ann Shalloo McCollom; his children,
7Kevin (fiance Lynette Gallo), Megan (Cpt. Daniel Durham,
8USAF), and Ryan (girlfriend Jordan Butkus); his grandchildren,
9Molly McCollom and Charlotte and Max Durham; his siblings,
10Walter R. "Terry" (Kay) MCollom Jr., Madonna (Tim) Ashe, and
11Carol (Mike) Boyce; and his many nephews and nieces,
12colleagues, and friends; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Mark Scott McCollom and extend our sincere condolences to his
16family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
17further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Mark McCollom as an expression of
20our deepest sympathy.
