SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Larry Stelivan, who passed away on
4October 8, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Larry Stelivan was born in Little Rock, Arkansas
6to Joseph Sr. and Iceola Stelivan on June 27, 1950, the last of
716 children; he was baptized at an early age and faithfully
8attended church with his family as a child; he graduated from
9Wilbur D. Mills High School and served in the U.S. Air Force
10from 1973 to 1975, receiving an honorable discharge; he
11attended Arkansas College of Technology and was on the Dean's
12List in 1991; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Larry Stelivan served as an Illinois State
14Trooper in Cook County in 1976 and then served with the
15Springfield Police Department from 1978 to 2002; in
16retirement, he started serving as doorman for the Illinois
17State Senate in Springfield on November 28, 2007 and was
18serving in that capacity at the time of his passing; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Larry Stelivan was affectionately known as "Vito
20Goodbar" or "John Cook"; he enjoyed playing darts, bowling,
21telling jokes, and being with his family; he was president of
22the Dead Eye motorcycle club in Springfield and a computer

1tech; he loved to dance on occasion and enjoyed taking road
2trips in his RV Camper; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Larry Stelivan was preceded in death by his
4parents; his son, Larry Stelivan; and his siblings, Joseph,
5Isom, Etta Mae, Geneva, Versia, Inez, Arnetta, Tommy, Linda,
6Melvin, and Leo Stelivan; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Larry Stelivan is survived by his wife, Tyus
8Stelivan; his children, Tanya Townsell, Katheryn Hayes, Carmen
9Warner-Stelivan, Shawntelle Stelivan, Iceola Stelivan, Everett
10Larry Stelivan, Gary Williams, Shelly Rouse, Marcus Rouse,
11Felishia Webb, Kayla Webb, and Robert Webb; his long-time
12friend, Eddie Withers; his siblings, James Stelivan, Ervin
13Stelivan, Carolyn Townsend, and Cynthia (John) Webb; 26
14grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other
15family members, and friends; therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
17ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
18Larry Stelivan and extend our sincere condolences to his
19family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
20further
 
21    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
22presented to the family of Larry Stelivan as an expression of
