SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Catherine "Kay" Agnes Duff of Forest
4Park, who passed away on August 12, 2021 at the age of 91; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Kay Duff was born on October 27, 1929 on the West
6Side of Chicago; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Kay Duff attended Providence High School; she was
8an active member of the Presentation Young People's Club,
9through which she met her future husband of 57 years, the late
10John (Jack) Duff; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Kay Duff and Jack married and then moved to Oak
12Park where they raised their ten children; she worked as a
13devoted mother who never took a day off, remembered every
14birthday, and always tended to each of her children's needs
15without ever driving a car; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Kay Duff was an active member of the community
17and was deeply involved in religious life; she was a loyal
18member of Ascension Parish and was involved in the Altar &
19Rosary Society as well as the many activities in which her
20children participated; and

1    WHEREAS, Once her children were grown, Kay Duff worked as
2a trusted receptionist for the Wednesday Journal; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Kay Duff will be remembered as a loving mother,
4grandmother, friend, and beloved aunt and great-aunt to many;
5she will be missed dearly by all; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Kay Duff was the mother of John, Kathleen, Thomas
7(Pam), James (Wendy), Anne (Robert) Dorneker, Margaret
8(William) Walsh, Mary (James) Arey, Patricia (Robert) Marino,
9Robert, and the late Susan (the late John) Sbarbaro; the
10grandmother of Ainsly, Benjamin, Amanda, Thomas, Kaitlyn,
11Kevin, Elizabeth, Kelly, Maggie, Meredith, Joseph, Patrick,
12Matthew, Nicole, James, John, Marikate, Jack, and Samuel; the
13great-grandmother of Colin, Clare, Josephine, Thomas, Cadence,
14and Tenley; and the sister of William (Anita), Lawrence (Mary)
15Frankel, the late Margaret (the late Charles) May, Hugo,
16Robert (Dorothy), Loretta Marren, and Howard and Virginia
17Frankel; therefore, be it
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
19ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
20Catherine Agnes "Kay" Duff and extend our sincere condolences
21to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be
22it further
