SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of John J. Gibson of Peoria, who passed
4away on October 18, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Gibson was born in Peoria to Thomas and
6Hazel (Fosbender) Gibson on March 29, 1932; he served in the
7United States Army during the Korean War; he married Camille
8M. Esslinger in Peoria on March 3, 1962; and
 
9    WHEREAS, John Gibson served as the Vice President of
10Personnel at Keystone Steel & Wire Company and later as the
11President for the Employers Association; he last worked as the
12Development Director for the Peoria Catholic Diocese from 2005
13until his retirement in 2019; and
 
14    WHEREAS, John Gibson was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic
15Church in Peoria; he was 50-year member of the Knights of
16Columbus, 3rd Degree Spalding Council #427; he had also served
17his community in a variety of other ways, including
18involvement with the Peoria Historical Society and the
19Downtown Rotary Club; he was a member of the Youth Farm Board
20and various other Peoria city boards and commissions; and
 
21    WHEREAS, John Gibson was preceded in death by his parents;

1one sister; and four brothers; and
 
2    WHEREAS, John Gibson is survived by his wife, Camille; his
3brother, Patrick Gibson; and numerous nieces and nephews;
4therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7John J. Gibson and extend our sincere condolences to his
8family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
9further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of John Gibson as an expression of our
12deepest sympathy.
