SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Jacqueline Louise "Jacquie" Nichols
4of New York City, formerly of Peoria, who passed away on
5September 5, 2021; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Jacquie Nichols was born in Peoria on May 29,
71942; she grew up in the Averyville neighborhood, attending
8Kingman Grade School and Woodruff High School; she pursued a
9double major and earned degrees in Art Education and Home
10Economics from Western Illinois University; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Jacquie Nichols had a gift for music; she formed
12a singing duo with her sister, Judy, as children, and they
13performed together for many years, winning awards and trophies
14along the way; they were part of the WMBD Juvenile Theatre
15group, and they sang on the radio and on television; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Jacquie Nichols was an art teacher for several
17years in Illinois; she then left teaching and moved to
18Manhattan in New York City, where she completed nurses'
19training at New York City Hospital; her nursing duties took
20her everywhere from London to Egypt; she then made another
21career change, opening the JB Plaza International Trading Co.
22and the Skyview Deli with her business partner; her many

1interests and innate curiosity led to her to selling and
2managing real estate in Maine and New York before she retired
3in May 2021; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Jacquie Nichols had an unquenchable thirst for
5conversation and a fascination for all things mechanical; her
6enthusiasm for books, magazines, cats, family, gadgets, and
7New York City kept her busy and productive her entire life; she
8will be remembered for her energy and her great generosity to
9everyone she met; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Jacquie Nichols was preceded in death by her
11parents, Merle and Laverna (Short Lotze) Nichols, and her
12brother, Jerry E. Nichols; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Jacquie Nichols is survived by her sister, Judith
14(Alan) Aaron; her sister-in-law, Barbara Nichols; several
15nieces and a nephew; and her great-nieces and great-nephews;
16therefore, be it
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
18ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
19Jacqueline Louise "Jacquie" Nichols and extend our sincere
20condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
21her; and be it further
