SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Linda S. Millen of Peoria, who passed
4away on October 4, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Linda Millen was born to Donald and Glenna
6(Groom) Lange in Moline on August 24, 1943; she married Gary
7Millen on January 30, 1965; she received her master's degree
8in Education from Illinois State University; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Linda Millen was a lifelong educator who taught
10at several District 150 schools as well as the Daarul Uloom
11Islam School; she inspired countless young people to realize
12their potential and inspired many to become educators; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Linda Millen coordinated the Rising Star tutoring
14program through her church and was recruited as a tutor for the
15University of Illinois Men's Basketball program; she helped
16launch the Peoria Girls Sports League and coached softball and
17basketball; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Linda Millen was a member of University United
19Methodist Church where she served as a lay minister; she was
20also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, the League of Women Voters,
21and the South-West Kiwanis; and

1    WHEREAS, Linda Millen was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and
2enjoyed her friendships in numerous book clubs; her greatest
3joy was spending time with her four grandchildren; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Linda Millen was preceded in death by her parents
5and her two brothers, Larry and Jeff Lange; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Linda Millen is survived by her husband; her two
7children, Vince (Traci) Millen and Audra (Joel) Brennan; her
8four grandchildren, Michael, Parker, Allison, and Conor; her
9brother, Howard (Donna) Lange; her two sisters-in-law, Carol
10and Lori Lange; and her several special nieces and nephews;
11therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14Linda S. Millen and extend our sincere condolences to her
15family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
16further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Linda Millen as an expression of our
19deepest sympathy.
