SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of The Rev. Dr. Laurence Larson of
4Moline, who passed away on September 30, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Laurence Larson was born to Roy and Agnes Burke
6Larson in East Chicago, Indiana on March 3, 1936; he attended
7public schools in Sterling and served in the U.S. Marine Corps
8from 1954 to 1957; he graduated from Illinois College in
9Jacksonville in 1960 and received a Master of Divinity from
10Nashotah House Seminary in Nashotah, Wisconsin in 1963; he
11received a Doctorate of Ministry from the Graduate Theological
12Foundation in Notre Dame, Indiana in 1988; he married Betty
13Lou Izard in Warsaw on December 30, 1961; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Laurence Larson was ordained in the Episcopal
15Church in 1963; he served eight years of college chaplaincy,
16as rector of Trinity Parish in Lincoln from 1971 to 1977, and
17as Rector of Trinity Parish in Rock Island from 1977 to 2001;
18he helped establish the All Saints Mission in Moline in
19February of 2009 and served that congregation through 2013;
20and
 
21    WHEREAS, Laurence Larson was preceded in death by his
22parents; his brothers, Roger and Don; and his sister, Lois

2    WHEREAS, Laurence Larson is survived by his wife, Betty
3Larson; his sons, Christopher and Chad (Carrie) Larson; his
4daughter, Catherine Larson and her husband, John Culwell; ten
5grandchildren; and his twin sister, Laurel Bye; therefore, be
6it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9The Rev. Dr. Laurence Larson and extend our sincere
10condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
11him; and be it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Laurence Larson as an expression of
14our deepest sympathy.
