SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Kenneth "Ken" Batten of Rock Island,
4who passed away on September 17, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ken Batten was born to Robert and Margaret
6(Anderson) Batten in Moline on October 29, 1948; he married
7Patricia Beyhl and later married Roxanne Stevenson; he served
8in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed at Bergstom Air Force
9Base in Austin, Texas where he worked on F-4 Phantoms and Air
10Force One when it was there; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Ken Batten worked as an engineer for J. I. Case
12Company, Sears Manufacturing, and the Rock Island Arsenal; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Ken Batten was a member of various veteran
14service organizations, such as the American Legion, VFW, and
15VVA Chapter 299; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Ken Batten loved working on cars; his greatest
17joy in life was being able to attend his grandchildren's
18school and sporting events; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Ken Batten was preceded in death by his parents;
20his stepson, Rudy Larson; and his brother, Thomas Batten; and

1    WHEREAS, Ken Batten is survived by his sons, Jeff Batten
2and James Batten; his stepsons, Reggie (Caitlin) Larson and
3Rusty (Maribeth) Larson; his 15 grandchildren; his one
4great-grandchild; and his brothers, Larry Batten and Paul
5Batten; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Kenneth "Ken" Batten and extend our sincere condolences to his
9family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
10further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Ken Batten as an expression of our
13deepest sympathy.
