SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Ruby S. Widicus of rural Trenton, who
4passed away on September 9, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ruby Widicus was born to Henry and Clara
6(Koester) Seibert in Trenton on February 18, 1927; as a child,
7she was a member of St John E & R in Summerfield; she attended
8Summerfield School through 8th grade and graduated from
9Lebanon High School; she then went to college for her
10teacher's certificate; she later attended Washington
11University where she took classes in pattern drafting; she
12also attended classes in horticulture with a particular
13interest in farm and garden plants; she married Kenneth
14Widicus at St. Paul UCC in Lebanon on June 4, 1952; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Ruby Widicus made wedding dresses and worked as a
16seamstress for many years; for 35 years, she and her husband
17owned Happy Day Kennels; she taught dog obedience classes; and
 
18    WHEREAS, After her marriage, Ruby Widicus was a member of
19St Paul UCC in Lebanon and belonged to the Tail Waggers 4-H;
20and
 
21    WHEREAS, Ruby Widicus and her husband showed dogs all

1around the country; they once won Best of Terrier Group and 2nd
2Best of Show at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in New
3York; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Ruby Widicus was preceded in death by her
5parents; her husband; her daughter, Nancy Jane Widicus; and
6her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Andrew and Ella Widicus;
7and
 
8    WHEREAS, Ruby Widicus is survived by her daughter, Diana
9(Michael Davis) Widicus; her grandchildren of whom she was
10especially proud, Michael Andrew (Destiny) Davis, Megan Anne
11(Korhy) Flanary, Jane (Emily) Briguglio, and Nathan Henry
12Davis; and her great-grandchildren, Oliver Patrick Flanary,
13Nancy Jane Flanary, and Theodore Barton Davis; therefore, be
14it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
16ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
17Ruby S. Widicus and extend our sincere condolences to her
18family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
19further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to the family of Ruby Widicus as an expression of our
22deepest sympathy.
