SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Daniel "Dan" Leroy Battles of St.
4Simons Island, Georgia, who passed away on August 21, 2021;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, Daniel Battles was born in Popular Bluff,
7Missouri on January 8, 1950; he graduated from Cahokia High
8School and studied at Southwest Missouri State College; he
9joined the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam as an air traffic
10controller for almost three years and also trained scuba
11instructors in Corpus Christi, Texas; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Daniel Battles served as Commander of the
13American Legion Post 166 on St. Simons Island; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Daniel Battles was a lighting and sound
15technician at Wesley UMC Church and for weddings; he loved his
16church family, and as a labor of love, he worked part time for
17Seafarers; he truly enjoyed his many friends; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Daniel Battles was preceded in death by his
19stepson, Scott Reynolds; his father, Connie Battles; his
20stepfather, Guy Julian; and his grandson, Gray Battles; and

1    WHEREAS, Daniel Battles is survived by his wife, Brenda
2Reynolds Battles; his mother, Clara Julian; his sister,
3Jeannie (Wayne) Evans; his daughter, Annie Bundy; his sons,
4Keith (Amy) Battles, Scott (Shira) Battles, and Matthew
5Battles; his stepdaughter, Valerie (Shawn) Sandow; his
6stepdaughter-in-law, Angie Reynolds; his 12 grandchildren; and
7his two great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Daniel "Dan" Leroy Battles and extend our sincere condolences
11to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
12it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Daniel Battles as an expression of
15our deepest sympathy.
