SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Patrick "Twink" Tavine of
4Springfield, who passed away on August 19, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Patrick Tavine was born to Genevieve and Mike
6Tavine in Springfield on December 1, 1949; he graduated from
7Griffin High School, known today as Sacred Heart-Griffin; he
8attended Springfield College in Illinois; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Patrick Tavine worked for the Illinois Department
10of Public Health; he also owned and operated several
11Springfield bars and restaurants; he first opened Pat Tavine's
12at Chatham Road and Wabash Avenue in 1970; he reopened The Lake
13Club at 2840 Fox Bridge Road in 1980; after closing the
14original The Lake Club in 1988, he later operated The Lake Club
15II on Toronto Road with Steve Morrison; he was associated with
16a number of other establishments in Springfield, including
17Gilligans, P.T.'s Salla D-Ballo, The Spot, On Broadway, and
18Jake and Elwood's; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Patrick Tavine became involved in politics as a
20Republican committeeman in Precinct 100 and as chairman of the
21southern district of Springfield for the Sangamon County
22Republicans; he joined the Springfield Metropolitan Exposition

1and Auditorium Authority (SMEAA) Board in 1980, where he
2served as secretary; he later left the authority to run for
3Ward 10 of the Springfield City Council in 1987, which was
4unsuccessful; he was reappointed to SMEAA in 1990; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Patrick Tavine enjoyed spending time with his
6family, playing golf, people watching, sitting at the bar,
7tipping big, and watching golf, football, and baseball; he
8also enjoyed making others laugh; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Patrick Tavine loved his children and worked hard
10to provide for his family; he was a loyal friend to many; he
11will be remembered as an avid storyteller, a gregarious host,
12and a local legend in the bar business; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Patrick Tavine is survived by his daughter, Leah
14(Sean) Stutler; his grandsons, Mason and Jackson; his
15daughter, Jill (partner Joe) Tavine; his brother, Mike (Terry)
16Tavine; his nieces, Jennifer Craig and Sarah Leemans; and his
17nephew, Joe Tavine; therefore, be it
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
19ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
20Patrick "Twink" Tavine and extend our sincere condolences to
21his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it

3our deepest sympathy.
