SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Vincent L. "Vince" Looby of
4Springfield, who passed away on August 5, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Vince Looby was born in Greenview to William H.
6and Marguerite (Doyle) Looby on June 24, 1928; he graduated
7from Greenview High School in 1947; he attended Springfield
8Jr. College; he earned his bachelor's degree from Sangamon
9State University; he married Earlona Williams in Springfield
10on June 23, 1956; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Vince Looby served in the U.S. Air Force and
12Illinois Air National Guard for 37 years, retiring as a
13colonel; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Vince Looby was a member of St. Agnes Catholic
15Church, the Knights of Columbus, and the Elks; he served as
16chair and board member of Heartland Credit Union; he also
17served as president of Senior Services of Illinois for 15
18years and as a member of the Springfield Planning and Zoning
19Commission for 16 years; he loved sports, coaching youth teams
20for many years, and the Chicago Cubs; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Vince Looby was preceded in death by his parents;

1his brother, William P. Looby; and his sister, Ruth L.
2Kauffman; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Vince Looby is survived by his wife, Earlona
4"Lonnie" Looby; his sons, Jim (Melinda) Looby, William Looby,
5and David Looby; his daughters, Ann Marie Young, Lynn
6Marguerite, and Amy Looby; his 12 grandchildren, Jennifer
7(Matthew) Doering, David (Alyssa) Castor, Sean Looby, Matt
8Looby, Molly Looby, Emily Looby, Isaac Looby, Andrew Looby,
9Thomas Looby, Daniel Looby, Logan Looby, and London Looby; his
10great-grandchildren, Jack Castor, Holden Looby, Charlotte
11Doering, Charlie Castor, and Joshua Doering; and his several
12nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Vincent L. "Vince" Looby and extend our sincere condolences to
16his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
17further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Vince Looby as an expression of our
20deepest sympathy.
