SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Leon J. Corkery of Moline, who passed
4away on August 2, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Leon Corkery was born to Charles (J.C.) and
6Margaret (Staebell) Corkery in Fairbank, Iowa on August 5,
71923; he served in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1946 with the
81636th Engineering Construction Battalion in France, Germany,
9the Philippines, and Japan; he married Ruth Dingman in Fort
10Madison, Iowa on September 25, 1949; he attended Iowa State
11University on the G.I. Bill and graduated as an agricultural
12engineer in 1950; and
 
13    WHEREAS, After graduation, Leon Corkery joined John Deere
14Harvester Works in East Moline where he was employed as an
15engineer until his retirement in 1984; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Leon Corkery was preceded in death by wife; his
17son, David Corkery; and his nine brothers; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Leon Corkery is survived by his four sons;
19Patrick (Margaret) Corkery, John (Dara) Corkery, Joseph
20(Margaret Lukens) Corkery, and Daniel (Victoria "Tori")
21Corkery; his daughter-in-law, Cynthia Corkery; his six

1grandchildren; his three step-grandchildren; his two
2great-granddaughters; and his three sisters; therefore, be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
5Leon J. Corkery and extend our sincere condolences to his
6family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
7further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to the family of Leon Corkery as an expression of our
10deepest sympathy.
