SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Barbara Ann Weitekamp of The Villages,
4Florida, who passed away on July 17, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Barbara Weitekamp was born in Decatur to Roy and
6Marguerite Limes on April 26, 1932; she married Howard
7Weitekamp on September 30, 1950; she moved to The Villages in
8Florida in 2009; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Barbara Weitekamp owned and operated three
10women's boutiques; she was well known for her musical fashion
11shows at Springfield College, The Heart Association, and The
12Cancer Society; she later became the director of the Illinois
13Federation of Right to Life and served on George W. Bush's
14Advisory Team; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Barbara Weitekamp was committed to her faith and
16known for finding kind words to say to all; she enjoyed
17reading, history, puzzles, and politics; she liked playing
18Mahjong and Kings in the Corner with her neighbors; she loved
19traveling on cruises, especially with her family; she gave
20generously to those who were in need and was a charitable donor
21to Mercy Home for Boys and Girls, Covenant House, Wounded
22Warriors, and Disabled Veterans of America; and

1    WHEREAS, Barbara Weitekamp was preceded in death by her
2husband of 49 years, Howard; her son, William; her daughter,
3Karen; her brother, Leroy; her sister, Phyllis (Gilleland);
4and her grandson, Isaac; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Barbara Weitekamp is survived by Richard (Lisa),
6Judith (Ira), Brenda (Alan), Susan, Margaret, and Dennis
7(Charlene); her grandchildren, Jennifer, Catherine, Greg,
8Amanda, Rachel, Colin, Glenda, Frank, Emily, Michael, Zeke,
9and Holly; and her great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Barbara Ann Weitekamp and extend our sincere condolences to
13her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Barbara Weitekamp as an expression
17of our deepest sympathy.
