SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Thomas E. "Tom" Williams of Milan, who
4passed away on July 7, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Tom Williams was born in Sulligent, Alabama to
6Purvie Thomas and Gertrue (Morris) Williams on September 17,
71946; he graduated from Rock Island High School; he served in
8the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was stationed in
9Korea; he married Linda Gridley in Aledo on September 20,
101969; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Tom Williams worked at the former Oscar-Mayer
12plant in Davenport, Iowa for 32 years, retiring in 2000; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Tom Williams was a member of the Edgewood Baptist
14Church in Rock Island; he enjoyed reading, visiting casinos,
15driving fast cars, and Christmas; he also enjoyed fishing,
16visiting Lake Odessa in Muscatine, and staying in his cabin;
17above all, he enjoyed spending time with and caring for his
18wife and family; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Tom Williams was preceded in death by his parents
20and four siblings; and

1    WHEREAS, Tom Williams is survived by his wife of 52 years,
2Linda; his daughters, Amanda Williams and Tarrah (Brian)
3Smith; his granddaughters, Lydia and Emily Skelton; and his
4sister, Louise (Steve) Watters; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7Thomas E. "Tom" Williams and extend our sincere condolences to
8his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
9further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Tom Williams as an expression of our
12deepest sympathy.
