SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Thomas Clark "Tom" Jackson Jr. of
4Peoria, who passed away on June 25, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Tom Jackson was born in Bloomington to Thomas C.
6and Ella M. Jensen Jackson Sr. on August 6, 1940; he graduated
7from Limestone High School in 1958; he served as a member of
8the 182nd Tactical Squadron in the Air National Guard from
91963 to 1969; he married Bonnie L. Lowder in Peoria on October
104, 1964; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Tom Jackson was hired by the Peoria Fire
12Department in 1969, where he retired with the rank of captain
13in 1997; he served as treasurer for Union Local 50 for 26 years
14and treasurer of the Illinois Association of Retired
15Firefighters from 1998 to 2015; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Tom Jackson served on the City of Peoria Fire and
17Police Commission's hiring committee from 2010 to 2021 and as
18a member of the Board of Directors and as treasurer for the
19Peoria City Employees Credit Union from 2004 to 2020; at the
20time of his death, he had served as an insurance agent for the
21Police and Fire Insurance Association of Indianapolis, Indiana
22since 1972, on the Board of Directors since 1998, and as

1chairman of the Board since 2009; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Tom Jackson enjoyed maintaining his Chevrolet car
3collection and regularly attending various local and national
4car club events; his greatest joy was spending time with his
5children and grandchildren; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Tom Jackson was preceded in death by his parents;
7and
 
8    WHEREAS, Tom Jackson is survived by his wife of over 56
9years; his son, Rodney (Jennifer) Jackson, and their children,
10Joshua and Gavin Jackson; his daughter, Angie Jackson, and her
11children, Patrick and Lauren Field; and his sisters, Tamara
12(Brad) Stiles and Trina (Eldon) Swedberg; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Thomas Clark "Tom" Jackson Jr. and extend our sincere
16condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
17him; and be it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Tom Jackson as an expression of our
20deepest sympathy.
