SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Robert E. Merrill of Colona, who
4passed away on May 13, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Robert Merrill was born in Moline to Joseph and
6Adia "Irene" DeVore Merrill on November 13, 1944; he served in
7the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era; he married Barbara
8Draper in Rock Island on December 24, 1970, and she preceded
9him in death on February 17, 2013; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Robert Merrill worked as a machine repairman at
11IH in East Moline; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Robert Merrill was a member of the Colona
13American Legion, Geneseo VFW Post 5083, Disabled American
14Veterans, and Vietnam Veterans of America; he also helped
15establish the Henry County Veterans Assistance Commission; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Robert Merrill was preceded in death by his
17parents, his wife, and his brothers, James, Joseph, and
18Norman; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Robert Merrill is survived by his children,
20Christopher (Sharon) Merrill, Mechelle "Missy" (John) Larson,

1Jody (Thad) Lindstrom, and Robert "Bobby" (Kelly) Merrill; his
2grandchildren, Terry Larson, Jonathon Larson, Sommer Larson,
3Devan Markin, Tiera White, Kristina McCool, Kalista Merrill,
4Spencer Lindstrom, Dawson Merrill, and Alyse Merrill; his
5great-grandchildren, Elijah Ford, Chloe Wheat, Christopher
6Zane White, Airabella White, and Harlie Halderman; his
7brothers, John (Rita) Merrill and Jack (Barbara) Merrill; his
8sister, Joan (Jerry) Kinkead; his sister-in-law, Lois Merrill;
9and his special friend, Lynda Smith; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Robert E. Merrill and extend our sincere condolences to his
13family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Robert Merrill as an expression of
17our deepest sympathy.
