SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Ora "Corky" Weldon Aten of Winston,
4Missouri, formerly of Silvis, who passed away on February 20,
52021; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Ora Aten was born to Hiram and Pearl (Marner)
7Aten in Swan Creek on January 16, 1923; he married Vivian Bel
8on December 31, 1945; he served in the U.S. Navy in both World
9War II and Korea; and
 
10    WHEREAS, After retiring from the Rock Island Lines, Ora
11Aten became a locomotive consultant and worked for Iowa
12Interstate Railroad; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Ora Aten was a member of Silvis Lodge #898, AF &
14AM, and Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Moline; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Ora Aten enjoyed reunions with shipmates from the
16USS Guadalupe and loved his farm in Missouri; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Ora Aten was preceded in death by his wife; his
18son-in-law, John Hanley; and his five siblings; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Ora Aten is survived by his six children and

1their spouses, Georgia and David Baraks, Jeffrey and Patty
2Aten, Bill and Grace Aten, Don and Carolyn Aten, Jennifer
3Hanley, and Marian and Patrick Collison; his 15 grandchildren
4and their spouses, Jana Baraks, Jyll and Matt Moore, Quinn and
5Lindsay Hanley, Erin Hanley, Brice Hanley, Michael and
6Samantha Collison, Jessi and Dustin Cassler, Matthew Collison,
7Derek Aten, Darci Aten, Shayla Aten, Kiki Aten, Ian Aten,
8Kevin and Jennifer Aten, and Alivia and Dean Grace; and his 24
9great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Ora "Corky" Weldon Aten and extend our sincere condolences to
13his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
14further; and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Ora Aten as an expression of our
17deepest sympathy.
