SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Ivan W. Miller of Hillsboro, who
4passed away on February 4, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ivan Miller was born to Albert and Rose
6(Hueschen) Miller in Nokomis on January 31, 1925; he graduated
7as salutatorian from Nokomis High School in 1942; he served as
8a sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean War; while in the
9Army, he earned his pilot's license; he married Ida Mae
10Mondhink at the 1st United Presbyterian Church in Raymond on
11March 16, 1954; and
 
12    WHEREAS, In 1960, Ivan Miller started his career in the
13purebred hog business; he was the first hog farm in Illinois to
14raise Specific Pathogen Free (SPF) disease free hogs; during
15his career, he won many awards at the state and national level;
16in 1980, he was selected as a National Duroc Association Who's
17Who honoree; in 2005, he received the Illinois Purebred Swine
18Council Award; in 2013, he was inducted into the Land of
19Lincoln Purebred Livestock Association Hall of Fame; he was
20well known in his business throughout the world; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Ivan Miller belonged to several organizations at
22the local, county, and state level and served in leadership

1roles in many of them; in 1963, he helped organize the
2Montgomery County Pork Producers Association and the Illinois
3Swine Repopulation Association; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Ivan Miller was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran
5Church in Hillsboro and a past member of the Hillsboro Moose
6Club; and
 
7    WHEREAS, In his younger years, Ivan Miller enjoyed flying
8his Piper Arrow airplane and loved ballroom dancing with his
9wife; he adored his grandchildren and especially loved
10watching them play sports; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Ivan Miller was preceded in death by his parents
12and one son, Robert "Bob" Miller; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Ivan Miller is survived by his wife; his
14daughter, Linda (Dan) Bilyeu; his son, James Miller; his three
15grandchildren, Jenna Springer, Brett Bilyeu, and Brittany
16Bilyeu; his two great-grandchildren, Brockton and Bryce
17Springer; and his two sisters, Donna Roach and Irma
18Waddington; therefore, be it
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
20ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
21Ivan W. Miller and extend our sincere condolences to his

3    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
4presented to the family of Ivan Miller as an expression of our
5deepest sympathy.
