SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Gordon Ross Ainsworth of Moline, who
4passed away on February 1, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Gordon Ainsworth was born to George Rodney and
6Dorothy (Ross) Ainsworth in Moline on December 13, 1926; he
7graduated from Western Reserve Academy in Hudson, Ohio in
81944; he attended Amherst College and was then drafted into
9the U.S. Army; he served as a Staff Sergeant in Atlanta,
10Georgia at Fort McPherson; he returned to Amherst College and
11graduated in 1950 with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics; he
12married Kaye Crissey at the First Congregational Church in
13Moline on December 6, 1969; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Gordon Ainsworth was the fourth generation of
15Ainsworths to work in the family business, Dimock, Gould & Co;
16he started working in the lumber yard and eventually retired
17as president but still served alongside his two daughters on
18the board until the business closed in 2014; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Gordon Ainsworth was a lifelong member of the
20First Congregational Church in Moline and the Moline Rotary
21Club; he was also a member of Short Hills Country Club and
22White Lake Golf Club and served on the board of directors for

1Arrowhead Ranch and the Moline Public Hospital; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Growing up, Gordon Ainsworth collected stamps and
3later developed an interest in Frances Ware and Frosted
4Hobnail Glass; he spent as much time as possible at the family
5home overlooking Lake Michigan, where he enjoyed sailing and
6fishing; he loved golfing, walking the beach looking for lucky
7glass, and spending time with family and friends; he was
8always a gentleman and will be remembered for his positive
9outlook on life, his patience, and his wonderful sense of
10humor; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Gordon Ainsworth was preceded in death by his
12parents; his sisters, Ann and Cynthia Ainsworth; and his
13infant brother, Ross Ainsworth; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Gordon Ainsworth is survived by his loving wife,
15Katie; his daughters, Jennifer (David) Van Hook and Sarah
16(Jerry) Fulscher; and his grandchildren, Lauren and Conner
17Fulscher; therefore, be it
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
19ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
20Gordon Ross Ainsworth extend our sincere condolences to his
21family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
