SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are sadden to
3learn of the death of Robert "Bob" Dravis of East Moline, who
4passed away on January 3, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bob Dravis was born to Alfred and Ruth
6(Hermanson) Dravis in Moline on June 15, 1933; he served in the
7U.S. Air Force, and he was stationed in Alaska and Florida; he
8married Janet Harrison in Waukon, Iowa on August 8, 1954; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Bob Dravis began working for the Bituminous
10Insurance Company in the Collection Department in 1968; he was
11promoted to Manager of Agency Accounts in 1975 and retired in
121995; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Bob Dravis was a member of the Bituminous 20 Year
14Club and of the First Presbyterian Church, East Moline, where
15he served as Trustee and Deacon; he volunteered for Genesis
16Hospital Silvis, the Bix Festival, and the Festival of Trees
17and tutored at Ridgewood School; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Bob Dravis was an avid woodcarver and founded the
19Mississippi Valley Woodcarvers Club in 1970; he created
20woodcarvings for his church and for the Christmas Season; in
21the summer of 2012, he became involved with making palm

1crosses and made over 700 crosses; he enjoyed making furniture
2for his daughter; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Bob Dravis attended Iowa Hawkeye Football games
4and Chicago Cubs games and seldom missed a game on television;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, Bob Dravis was preceded in death by his parents
7and his brother, Charles (Peggy) Dravis; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Bob Dravis is survived by his wife; his daughter,
9Susan Dravis; his niece, Mary Lou (Joe) Dravis-Hott; his
10sister-in-law, Irene (Norman) Fiet; and his nephew, Kevin
11Fiet; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14Robert "Bob" Dravis and extend our sincere condolences to his
15family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
16further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Bob Dravis as an expression of our
19deepest sympathy.
