625 ILCS 5/1-159.1  from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 1-159.1

    Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Adds a licensed physical therapist as a person who can verify that a person is a person with disabilities for the purposes of the Code.

1    AN ACT concerning transportation.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by
5changing Section 1-159.1 as follows:
 
6    (625 ILCS 5/1-159.1)  (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 1-159.1)
7    Sec. 1-159.1. Person with disabilities. A natural person
8who, as determined by a licensed physician, by a licensed
9physician assistant, or by a licensed advanced practice
10registered nurse, or by a licensed physical therapist: (1)
11cannot walk without the use of, or assistance from, a brace,
12cane, crutch, another person, prosthetic device, wheelchair,
13or other assistive device; (2) is restricted by lung disease
14to such an extent that his or her forced (respiratory)
15expiratory volume for one second, when measured by spirometry,
16is less than one liter, or the arterial oxygen tension is less
17than 60 mm/hg on room air at rest; (3) uses portable oxygen;
18(4) has a cardiac condition to the extent that the person's
19functional limitations are classified in severity as Class III
20or Class IV, according to standards set by the American Heart
21Association; (5) is severely limited in the person's ability
22to walk due to an arthritic, neurological, oncological, or
23orthopedic condition; (6) cannot walk 200 feet without

1stopping to rest because of one of the above 5 conditions; or
2(7) is missing a hand or arm or has permanently lost the use of
3a hand or arm.
