HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate our colleague,
4Representative Avery Bourne, on her distinguished service to
5the people of the State of Illinois; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Rep. Bourne was sworn in on February 20, 2015 as
7the youngest state representative to ever serve in the
8Illinois State Legislature; and
 
9    WHEREAS, For seven years, Rep. Bourne dutifully served
10Montgomery County as well as portions of Christian, Macoupin,
11and Madison Counties; and
 
12    WHEREAS, A proud resident of Morrisonville, Rep. Bourne
13was a great voice for the farming community, especially due to
14her roots in rural Christian County where her family has
15farmed for over 150 years; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Rep. Bourne was an incredible advocate for
17residents across the state and a vital member of the House
18Republican leadership team, holding the respect and esteem of
19her colleagues; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Rep. Bourne amassed an impressive voting record

1that reflects her conservative values, including her tireless
2efforts to eradicate corruption, to create equitable education
3for students across Illinois, to build fiscal reform, to fight
4for pro-life values, and to provide a better government for
5the people across Illinois and throughout her 95th District;
6and
 
7    WHEREAS, In 2016, Rep. Bourne was appointed to the House
8Education Funding Task Force and the Illinois School Funding
9Reform Commission to work on a bipartisan statewide solution
10to fund disparities within the public education system; and
 
11    WHEREAS, The passage of comprehensive, historic education
12funding reform was achieved in 2017 in large part due to Rep.
13Bourne's passion, commitment, and leadership in transforming
14education for the better across Illinois; and
 
15    WHEREAS, To create a government of which Illinoisans could
16be proud, Rep. Bourne was a strong proponent of independent
17maps for the legislature and Illinois residents, but her
18advocacy for ethics did not stop there; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Rep. Bourne served as Chair of the Legislative
20Ethics Commission, working to create stronger laws to identify
21and remove bad actors and close loopholes that enabled
22corruption to run rampant in the Statehouse; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
2HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
3we wish to thank Representative Avery Bourne for her years of
4dedicated service as 95th District State Representative and
5wish her the very best in her future endeavors; and be it
6further
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8presented to Rep. Bourne as an expression of our esteem and
9respect.
