HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. was founded on
3the campus of Howard University in Washington, D.C. on January
49, 1914 with the vision to be "a part of" the general community
5rather than "apart from" the general community; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. is an
7international organization of college and professional men,
8open to all races, religions, classes, and national origins
9with over 200,000 members and more than 500 chapters in the
10United States, the Caribbean, Africa, and Asia; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. promotes
12brotherhood, scholarship, and service and conducts national
13programs in education, social action, and bigger and better
14business through its motto, "Culture for Service and Service
15for Humanity"; and
 
16    WHEREAS, The Nu Lambda Sigma Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma was
17founded in Lake County on February 19, 2005; and
 
18    WHEREAS, The Nu Lambda Sigma Chapter has remained
19committed to its mission to provide academic assistance and
20leadership development to underserved and underrepresented
21young men between the ages of eight and 18; and

1    WHEREAS, The Nu Lambda Sigma Chapter will celebrate its
217-year anniversary and will host, in partnership with the
3Blue Crescent Outreach Foundation (BCOF), its Ninth Annual
4Blue and White Scholarship Gala in Mundelein on September 24,
52022; the chapter's theme for this year's event is "One
6Community, Every Child, and One Sigma"; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
8HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
9we congratulate the Nu Lambda Sigma Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma
10on its 17-year anniversary and commend its contributions to
11Lake County; and be it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the Nu Lambda Sigma Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma as
14an expression of our esteem and respect.
