HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Commander Maureen Biggane
4on the occasion of her retirement from the Chicago Police
5Department; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Commander Biggane has lived in Chicago her entire
7life and is the daughter of a firefighter and a hairstylist;
8and
 
9    WHEREAS, Commander Biggane's brother and sister also
10became sworn officers of the Chicago Police Department; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Commander Biggane attended Maria High School and
12earned her undergraduate degree from the University of
13Illinois in Urbana-Champaign; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Commander Biggane earned her master's degree in
15Business Administration from Saint Xavier University and
16graduated summa cum laude from John Marshall Law School; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Commander Biggane began her career with the
18Chicago Police Department in 1992; she was first assigned to
19the 9th District working a beat car; and

1    WHEREAS, Commander Biggane was promoted to sergeant in
21999, and she served in that role for nearly nine years in the
321st District, the Office of the Superintendent, the Organized
4Crime — Vice Control Section, and the Area One Detective
5Division; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Commander Biggane, then-Sergeant Biggane, was
7promoted to lieutenant and assigned as field lieutenant in the
812th District in 2008; over the course of the following 11
9years, she served as commanding officer of the Juvenile
10Intervention and Support Center, News Affairs, and the
11Organized Crime – Confidential Matters & Criminal Analysis
12Unit and in the Office of the First Deputy Superintendent; and
 
13    WHEREAS, In November 2018, Commander Biggane was promoted
14to commander of the 16th District on Chicago's northwest side;
15and
 
16    WHEREAS, Commander Biggane and her husband, Sergeant
17Johnny Pasiewicz, have been married for seven years and have
18two children, Maddie and Lucas; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Commander Biggane is passionate about many
20causes, including animal rights and rescue; she volunteers in
21her community with veterans and the elderly and mentors women
22in the Chicago Police Department; and

1    WHEREAS, Commander Biggane has offered a career of service
2to her home, Chicago, and has served as an excellent police
3leader and commander in the 16th District; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
5HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
6we congratulate Commander Maureen Biggane on her retirement
7and thank her for her years of service and dedication to the
8Chicago Police Department and the City of Chicago; and be it
9further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to Commander Biggane as an expression of our esteem
12and gratitude.
