HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Alice
4Marie LeFlore Brown of Peoria, who passed away on December 10,
52021; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Alice Brown was born to Lillie LeFlore and Jimmie
7Rhodes Sr. in Chicago on October 15, 1971; she graduated from
8Fenger Academy High School; she received her CNA certificate
9from Malcom X College in Chicago; she married Rev. Chuck Brown
10on August 31, 2013, and they proudly combined nine children
11and five grandchildren to form a loving family; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Alice Brown was deeply devoted to her faith; she
13was baptized at Union Grove Baptist Church in Chicago at an
14early age; she was later baptized in the Holy Ghost at Jesus
15Name Apostolic Church in Waukegan; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Alongside her husband, Alice Brown founded the
17Mt. Olive M.B. Church in Peoria in March 2013; they changed the
18church's name to Victory Christian Church in December 2018;
19she served the church in many areas, including overseeing the
20ushers, the children's daycare, the women's ministry, and the
21kitchen ministry; she also served as the financial secretary;
22she was licensed by her husband to preach at Victory Christian

1Church on October 24, 2021; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Alice Brown strove to serve the church and the
3Peoria community by her husband's side; she loved spending
4time with her husband and family, traveling, watching movies,
5celebrating holidays, dressing up fashionably fresh, and
6dining at Tasty Crab in Bloomington; she dearly loved her
7children and grandchildren and would do anything for them; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Alice Brown was known as "Lady Brown" and
9affectionately called "hon" by her husband; she was a
10beautiful yet quiet woman, with a stunning smile, a warm
11embrace, and a spirit larger than life; she possessed
12tremendous gifts of love, support, and counsel to all who
13needed help and assistance; she will be remembered for being a
14family leader and the epitome of a virtuous woman; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Alice Brown is survived by her husband; her
16parents; her brothers, Henry Lamont LeFlore and Jimmie Rhodes
17Jr.; her sisters, Stephanie LeFlore, Patricia LeFlore, Nora
18LeFlore, Siara Rhodes, and Tauj Rhodes; her sons, Julius
19LeFlore, Jeremiah LeFlore, Alex LeFlore, and Malcom Kincaid;
20her daughters, Monique Kincaid, Monisha Kincaid, Alexandra
21Allen, Tehran Brown, Virginia Brown, and Jennifer Brown; her
22five grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and
23extended family; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
2HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
3we mourn the passing of Alice Marie LeFlore Brown and extend
4our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who
5knew and loved her; and be it further
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7presented to the family of Alice Brown as an expression of our
8deepest sympathy.
