HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, Cervical cancer is a disease that strikes over
313,000 American women each year; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Cervical cancer most often affects women in the
5prime of life; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Regular cervical cancer screening tests are
7effective in detecting the disease early when it can be
8effectively treated; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Cervical cancer disproportionately impacts
10vulnerable communities lacking access to health care and
11proven life-saving tools; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Cervical cancer screening tests and vaccines are
13available that together provide a formidable and effective
14means of preventing this disease; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Increasing awareness among patients and
16healthcare providers alike regarding the best use of these
17prevention tools is a key component in safeguarding women's
18health; therefore, be it
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE

1HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
2we declare January 2022 as Cervical Health Awareness Month in
3the State of Illinois; and be it further
 
4    RESOLVED, That we encourage all citizens to recognize that
5cervical cancer is preventable and to encourage the women in
6their lives to avail themselves of the tests and vaccines that
7have proven so effective in preventing cervical cancer, as we
8have the means to prevent this disease, and it is incumbent on
9all of us to insure we have the will to do so.
