HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Grace
4"Gracie" Marie Wingfield, who passed away on September 2,
52021; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Grace Wingfield was born to Joseph Edward Dansby
7and Annie Marie Dansby in Washington, Pennsylvania on March
821, 1953; her family moved to Chicago in 1965; after the death
9of her mother, she lived in Washington D.C. with her sister for
10a time but returned to Chicago to live with her father; she
11graduated from Dunbar Vocational High School in 1971 and then
12attended South Suburban Community College; she married her
13high school sweetheart Clifton Wingfield Sr. on June 24, 1978;
14and
 
15    WHEREAS, Grace Wingfield first worked for Aetna; she then
16worked for the Internal Revenue Service and the Veterans
17Administration before serving as a federal litigation agent
18for the United States Attorney's Office with the Department of
19Justice; she retired in 2010; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Grace Wingfield attended Hazel Crest Community
21United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Usher
22Board; she had committed to her faith at an early age; and

1    WHEREAS, Grace Wingfield loved Motown music, especially
2Eddie Kendricks of The Temptations, and organizing family
3reunions; she was always trying to find the best deals and the
4best gifts to give; she was a great cook who loved to prepare
5delicious meals for her family, especially fried green
6tomatoes; she was interested in politics and was great fun
7because of her lively personality; most of all, she loved
8spending time with her family; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Grace Wingfield was preceded in death by her
10parents; her beloved husband; her son, Christopher Wingfield;
11and her five siblings, William Lee, Milton Lee, Cornell Lee,
12Clarence Lee, and JoAnn Dansby; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Grace Wingfield is survived by her children,
14Kendra (Charles), Clifton Jr. (Courtney), Krystal (Stephen),
15and Kimberly; her four grandchildren, Rashad, Ava, Alanah, and
16Cali; her three sisters, Armenthia (TJ) Alexander, Willa Mae
17(Thomas) McMorris, and Jean (Gerald) McCullough; her three
18brothers, Cecil Lee, Joseph Dansby, and Donald Dansby; her
19brother-in-law, Arthur (Carlene) Hyrams; her sisters-in-law,
20Johanna Lee, Darriel Lee, Patricia Lee, and Donna Lee; her
21host of nieces and nephews; her cousins; and her other
22relatives and friends; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
2HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
3we mourn the passing of Grace "Gracie" Marie Wingfield and
4extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all
5who knew and loved her; and be it further
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7presented to the family of Grace Wingfield as an expression of
8our deepest sympathy.
