HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to commend Wonzolyn F.P. "Pearl"
4Henderson for her 15 years of service to the Hoffman Estates
5Cultural Awareness Commission while serving as chair; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Pearl Henderson was born to Reverend Franklin and
7Emma Brandon in Little Rock, Arkansas on July 8, 1957; she
8graduated from Chicago Vocational High School in 1975; she
9married Lenard Henderson, and they ultimately settled in
10Hoffman Estates; they have one son, Dante Ryan Henderson; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Pearl Henderson worked in corporate and social
12service organizations for over 20 years; she started at Desoto
13Inc. before landing a role in training and development at
14Motorola Land Mobile Products Services; she finished in the
15company's corporate human resources staffing; during this
16time, she received her bachelor's degree in Human Resources
17Management from Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Pearl Henderson left Motorola to pursue her
19master's degree; she earned a master's degree in Human
20Services and Counseling; during which time, she interned and
21later worked as a domestic violence counselor for the Elgin
22Community Crisis Center; she then worked in human resources

1for Alexian Brothers Mental Health Center; after that, she
2worked as a drug abuse counselor in a methadone clinic; she
3left the workforce due to health concerns and turned her
4energies to volunteer work; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Pearl Henderson has served in various volunteer
6capacities; she was a Sunday school teacher and the
7superintendent of her church before and after she left the
8workforce; she has also volunteered as an election judge and
9with Gigi's in Hoffman Estates and the Hanover Park Community
10Center; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Pearl Henderson is currently serving on the
12Recreation Committee of the Hoffman Estates Park District for
13her sixth year; she recently resigned as the chair of the
14Hoffman Estates Cultural Awareness Commission after serving
15for 15 years; therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
17HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
18we commend Wonzolyn F.P. "Pearl" Henderson for her commitment
19to the Hoffman Estates Cultural Awareness Commission and her
20dedication to the Hoffman Estates community; and be it further
 
21    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
22presented to Pearl Henderson as an expression of our esteem
