HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of John G.
4Langdon of Jacksonville, who passed away on December 19, 2020;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, John Langdon was born in Jacksonville to Paul and
7Peggy Flynn Langdon on November 28, 1953; he graduated from
8Chaminade College Preparatory School in St. Louis in 1972 and
9Illinois College in 1976; he married Pat Bray at Church of Our
10Saviour in Jacksonville on January 7, 1978; and
 
11    WHEREAS, John Langdon was employed by the Illinois
12Secretary of State Drivers' Services facility in Jacksonville
13from 1977 to 1983; and
 
14    WHEREAS, John Langdon joined his father as a partner at
15the Langdon Insurance Agency and Langdon Tax Service in 1983;
16while there, he enjoyed working alongside his father, his
17brother, and his son-in-law; and
 
18    WHEREAS, John Langdon belonged to a number of
19organizations, including the Knights of Columbus and the
20Jacksonville Lions Club, where he was the former president; he
21served on various committees at Our Savior Parish, served as a

1board member for the Routt Education Foundation, and was
2serving as the current board president of the Jacksonville
3Country Club; and
 
4    WHEREAS, John Langdon loved golfing, and he moved with his
5wife to a home adjacent to a golf course to increase his
6opportunity to play; he always included rounds of golf when he
7traveled with his wife and friends, and he played on the famous
8St. Andrews golf course in Scotland; he won the Jacksonville
9Country Club Men's Golf Net Championship in 2015 and 2020; he
10also achieved the coveted hole-in-one and a rare double eagle;
11and
 
12    WHEREAS, John Langdon enjoyed life above all else and
13believed almost any day could be made better by good music,
14good company, or a good story; and
 
15    WHEREAS, John Langdon is survived by his wife; his
16daughters, Megan (Ryan) McGuire and Kelli (Jason Early)
17Langdon; his grandchildren, Alex McGuire and Claire McGuire;
18his brothers, Greg (Kendra) Langdon and Philip (Kathy)
19Langdon; and numerous nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
20    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
21HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
22we mourn the passing of John G. Langdon and extend our sincere

1condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
2him; and be it further
 
3    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
4presented to the family of John Langdon as an expression of our
5deepest sympathy.
