HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Michael "Mike" Raczak on
4the occasion of his retirement as president of the Indian
5Prairie School District 204 Board of Education; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Mike Raczak earned his bachelor's degree in
7Education and Special Education and his master's degree in
8Special Education from Northern Illinois University; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Mike Raczak is a retired educator with 38 years
10of experience as a teacher and administrator; he began his
11career as a teacher and later became the principal of the Ray
12Graham Habilitation Center; he also worked for the LaGrange
13Area Department of Special Education, the School Association
14for Special Education in DuPage County, and Butler School
15District 53, where he started one of the first inclusion
16programs in Illinois; he joined Indian Prairie School District
17204 in 1991; he served as a middle school assistant principal,
18a middle school principal, and an elementary school principal;
19and
 
20    WHEREAS, During his career, Mike Raczak led schools that
21received numerous honors, including the Association of
22Illinois Middle Schools and the National Forum to Accelerate

1Middle Level's School to Watch, the National Association of
2Secondary School Principals' 100 Highly Successful Schools,
3and the Illinois State Board of Education's Exemplary Business
4Partnerships Award and the Academic Excellence Award for high
5student achievement for five consecutive years; he has been
6honored in the community as the recipient of the Indian
7Prairie District 204 Parent Diversity Advisory Council's
8Equity Champion Award, the Naperville Jaycees' Outstanding
9Educator Award, and the Illinois State Board of Education's
10Those Who Excel Award; and
 
11    WHEREAS, While on the Indian Prairie School District 204
12Board of Education, Mike Raczak served as vice president from
132015 to 2017; he became president in 2017 and has served in
14that role until his retirement; through continued professional
15development and training with the Illinois Association of
16School Boards, he achieved and maintained master board member
17status; he was also designated a fellow in the association's
18LeaderShop Academy; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Mike Raczak has also served as the president of
20the Association of Illinois Middle Schools, the president of
21the Illinois Association of Persons with Severe Handicaps, and
22a member on the Illinois State Board of Education Steering
23Committee on Autism; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
2HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
3we congratulate Michael "Mike" Raczak on his retirement as
4president of the Indian Prairie School District 204 Board of
5Education, and we wish him many happy and healthy retirement
6years; and be it further
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8presented to Mike Raczak as an expression of our esteem and
9respect.
