SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
Amends the Children with Disabilities Article of the School Code.
Provides that beginning with the 2022-2023 school year, a child with a
disability who has an individualized education program, who has completed
4 years of high school, and whose parent or guardian has decided not to
enroll the child in transition services shall receive a regular high
school diploma. Effective July 1, 2022.

AN ACT concerning education.
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
represented in the General Assembly:
The School Code is amended by changing Section
14-16 as follows:
(105 ILCS 5/14-16)
Participation in graduation ceremony.
(a) This Section may be referred to as Brittany's Law. The
General Assembly finds the following:
(1) Each year, school districts across this State
celebrate their students' accomplishments through
graduation ceremonies at which high school diplomas are
bestowed upon students who have completed their high

who have finished 4 years of high school, but whose
individualized education programs prescribe the
