SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
210 ILCS 45/2-116 new

    Amends the Nursing Home Care Act. Provides that a resident who is an end-of-life hospice patient, and who does not receive palliative care, has the right to a private room in the resident's facility, regardless of the resident's method of payment for residency at the facility. Provides that the resident's facility shall ensure that the resident's family members have full access to visit the resident at the facility.

1    AN ACT concerning regulation.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Nursing Home Care Act is amended by adding
5Section 2-116 as follows:
 
6    (210 ILCS 45/2-116 new)
7    Sec. 2-116. Hospice individuals; private rooms; family
8member access. A resident who is an end-of-life hospice
9patient, and who does not receive palliative care, has the
10right to a private room in the resident's facility, regardless
11of the resident's method of payment for residency at the
12facility, including, but not limited to, payment through
13private funding, Medicare, or Medicaid. The resident's
14facility shall ensure that the resident's family members have
15full access to visit the resident at the facility.
