SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
5 ILCS 430/25-105

    Amends the State Officials and Employees Ethics Act. Provides that the Legislative Inspector General may investigate any allegation or complaint under his or her jurisdiction (currently, allegations or complaints of sexual harassment) without the approval of the Legislative Ethics Commission. Makes conforming changes.

1    AN ACT concerning government.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The State Officials and Employees Ethics Act is
5amended by changing Section 25-105 as follows:
 
6    (5 ILCS 430/25-105)
7    Sec. 25-105. Opening investigations Investigation of
8sexual harassment. Notwithstanding any provision of law to the
9contrary, the Legislative Inspector General may investigate
10any allegation or complaint under his or her jurisdiction of
11sexual harassment without the approval of the Legislative
12Ethics Commission. At each Legislative Ethics Commission
13meeting, the Legislative Inspector General shall inform the
14Commission of each investigation opened under this Section
15since the last meeting of the Commission.
