    Amends the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Act. Makes a change in a Section concerning the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority.

1    AN ACT concerning the State government.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Illinois Criminal Justice Information Act
5is amended by changing Section 4 as follows:
 
6    (20 ILCS 3930/4)  (from Ch. 38, par. 210-4)
7    Sec. 4. Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority;
8creation, membership, and meetings. There is created an
9Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority consisting of
1025 members. The The membership of the Authority shall consist
11of the Illinois Attorney General, or his or her designee, the
12Director of Corrections, the Director of State Police, the
13Director of Public Health, the Director of Children and Family
14Services, the Sheriff of Cook County, the State's Attorney of
15Cook County, the clerk of the circuit court of Cook County, the
16President of the Cook County Board of Commissioners, the
17Superintendent of the Chicago Police Department, the Director
18of the Office of the State's Attorneys Appellate Prosecutor,
19the Executive Director of the Illinois Law Enforcement
20Training Standards Board, the State Appellate Defender, the
21Public Defender of Cook County, and the following additional
22members, each of whom shall be appointed by the Governor: a
23circuit court clerk, a sheriff, a State's Attorney of a county

1other than Cook, a Public Defender of a county other than Cook,
2a chief of police, and 6 members of the general public.
3    Members appointed on and after the effective date of this
4amendatory Act of the 98th General Assembly shall be confirmed
5by the Senate.
6    The Governor from time to time shall designate a Chairman
7of the Authority from the membership. All members of the
8Authority appointed by the Governor shall serve at the
9pleasure of the Governor for a term not to exceed 4 years. The
10initial appointed members of the Authority shall serve from
11January, 1983 until the third Monday in January, 1987 or until
12their successors are appointed.
13    The Authority shall meet at least quarterly, and all
14meetings of the Authority shall be called by the Chairman.
