SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
105 ILCS 5/10-20.63
105 ILCS 5/34-18.56
Amends the School Code. Provides that a school district shall make
menstrual (rather than feminine) hygiene products available, at no cost to
students, in each bathroom of every school building (rather than in
bathrooms of school buildings). Effective immediately.

AN ACT concerning education.
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
represented in the General Assembly:
The School Code is amended by changing Sections
10-20.63 and 34-18.56 as follows:
(105 ILCS 5/10-20.63)
(a) The General Assembly finds the following:
hygiene products are a health
care necessity and not an item that can be foregone or
(2) Access to
hygiene products is a
serious and ongoing need in this State.
(3) When students do not have access to affordable
hygiene products, they may miss
multiple days of school every month.
(4) When students have access to quality
hygiene products, they are able to continue with
their daily lives with minimal interruption.
(b) In this Section:
"Menstrual hygiene products"
"Feminine hygiene products"
means tampons and sanitary napkins for use in connection with
