SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Donald "Don" L. Randich of Crest Hill,
4who passed away on November 30, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Don Randich was born to Marion and Patricia
6Randich in Joliet on October 17, 1935; he was a lifelong
7resident of Crest Hill, a city he loved; he graduated from
8Lockport Township High School in 1953 and then served in the
9U.S. Army; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Don Randich was the fourth professional
11firefighter hired by the Lockport Fire Department and served
12for forty-two years, inspiring many others to become
13firefighters; he also served for eight years as the Lockport
14Township Highway Commissioner and then became a leading
15salesman for the Hoyle Road Equipment Company for over 20
16years; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Don Randich was elected six terms as mayor of
18Crest Hill and served as Crest Hill's city treasurer for eight
19years; he also served as a school board member for Chaney Monge
20School, as well as numerous other government and civic boards;
21he lived a life dedicated to service; and

1    WHEREAS, Don Randich served as a lector and was an active
2member of St. Anne's Catholic Church for over forty years; he
3was a lifetime member of the Chaney Progressive Club and
4enjoyed membership in the Joliet Rivals Club, the Joliet
5Firefighter Retiree Association, and the Croatian Club; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Don Randich was preceded in death by his beloved
7wife of 55 years, Bette; his parents; five brothers; three
8sisters; and his daughter-in-law, Laurie Randich; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Don Randich is survived by his children, Dana
10(Anna) Farley, Craig (Jana) Randich, and Todd (Angie) Randich;
11six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters; and
12more than two hundred nieces, nephews, and cousins; therefore,
13be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
16Donald "Don" L. Randich and extend our sincere condolences to
17his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
18further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Don Randich as an expression of our
21deepest sympathy.
