SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Timothy Earl "Rock" McCoy of Champaign,
4who passed away on December 22, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Timothy McCoy was born to Joann and Wilson McCoy
6Sr. in Jackson, Mississippi on April 26, 1967; he graduated
7from Champaign Central High School in 1985; he then enlisted in
8the United States Army and served in active duty during the
9Gulf War; he was honorably discharged in 1993; he earned his
10associate's degree in Special Education from Parkland College
11and his Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Eastern Illinois
12University; he married Kimberly Butts in 2006; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Timothy McCoy first worked as a union painter at
14the University of Illinois until his career moved in a new
15direction; as a caring, loyal, and devoted individual who
16genuinely cared for others, he found himself naturally
17successful as a case manager and mentor for Haven Focused, LLC;
18and
 
19    WHEREAS, Timothy McCoy was involved in his community and
20was a volunteer coach for the Champaign Park District; he was a
21strong, compassionate man, a devoted husband and father, a
22passionate coach and mentor, a loving father-figure, and a

1dedicated son, brother, and faithful friend; he was the rock of
2his family and for many who knew him; he will be deeply missed;
3and
 
4    WHEREAS, Timothy McCoy was preceded in death by his son,
5Timothy Earl McCoy Jr.; his father, Wilson McCoy Sr.; and his
6grandparents, Benjamin Franklin McCoy, Margaret Elizabeth
7Miles-McCoy, Harry Doss, and Mattie Mae Henderson; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Timothy McCoy is survived by his wife; his son,
9Joshua Butts; his three daughters, Sidney Butts and Tori and
10Madison McCoy; his mother, Joann Grayson; his brothers, Wilson
11McCoy and Eric (Lamillia) Grayson; his sister, Tia Grayson; his
12six grandchildren, Ayden, Jaya, Joshua Jr., Londyn, Indiya, and
13Alivia; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews;
14therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
16ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
17Timothy Earl "Rock" McCoy and extend our sincere condolences to
18his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
19further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to the family of Timothy McCoy as an expression of
22our deepest sympathy.
