SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Oyedele "Oye" Olupitan of Chicago, who
4passed away on August 18, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Oye Olupitan was born to Mary E. and David D.
6Olupitan in Chicago on February 23, 1978; he attended Young
7High School and Calumet High School and then studied at Kennedy
8King College; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Oye Olupitan was an entrepreneur and talented
10lifestyle merchandiser, automotive technician, jewelry
11designer, and visual artist, specializing in drawing and
12airbrushing; he also worked for Ford Motor Company and Amazon;
13and
 
14    WHEREAS, Oye Olupitan had a passion for recording his own
15rap music, fashion, poetry, traveling, cooking, eating,
16dancing, libations, top of the line footwear, The Chicago
17Bulls, especially during the championship era, and swimming;
18his family meant everything to him; he had a big personality, a
19sarcastic sense of humor, and an infectious smile and will be
20remembered as an influential neighborhood icon; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Oye Olupitan was preceded in death by his parents

1and his infant daughter, Kaliya Alayla Skye Olupitan; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Oye Olupitan is survived by his daughter, Jasmine
3Monique Hodges; his grandson, Tacari Zarell Wright Jr.; his
4brothers, Olumide Olupitan and Taiwo Olupitan; his sister,
5Kehinde Olupitan; his niece, Olivia Olufumilayo
6Alexander–Olupitan; his uncle, Larry Taylor; his aunt, Louise
7Taylor; the entire Hodges family; his special friends, Berahyah
8Hodges and Trish Jackson; and his extended children, Corey
9Pendleton and Divine Jackson; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Oyedele "Oye" Olupitan and extend our sincere condolences to
13his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Oye Olupitan as an expression of our
17deepest sympathy.
