SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Michael "Mike" F. Carey Sr., who passed
4away on October 24, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Mike Carey was born to John Carey and Helen
6(McGuire) LaBarre in Joliet; he graduated from Joliet Catholic
7High School in 1965; he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in
8Vietnam from 1966 to 1970; he graduated from Joliet Junior
9College in 1981; and
 
10    WHEREAS, During most of the 1980s and 1990s, Mike Carey
11pursued his two passions of coaching Little League baseball and
12politics; he often volunteered for and ran political campaigns
13throughout Will County; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Mike Carey loved playing golf and rooting for
15Notre Dame football and the Chicago Cubs; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Mike Carey was preceded in death by his parents;
17and
 
18    WHEREAS, Mike Carey is survived by his son, Michael F.
19Carey Jr.; his sisters, Sara (Steve) Wilhelmi and Mary Jo
20(Ronald) Fenili; his nephews, Adam (Nikki) Wilhelmi, Jason

3grandnephews; his aunts and uncles; and his cousins; therefore,

5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7Michael "Mike" F. Carey and extend our sincere condolences to
8his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
9further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Mike Carey as an expression of our
12deepest sympathy.
