SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Royce N. Bates of Milan, who passed away
4on September 20, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Royce Bates was born to William and Georgia
6(Harris) Bates in Conway, Arkansas on August 29, 1951; he
7served in the U.S. Army; he married Perfecta Eguia in Milan on
8July 21, 1973; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Royce Bates owned and operated Bates Roofing in
10Milan for 45 years; he was also the business manager and dean
11of students for the Bible Missionary Institute for many years;
12and
 
13    WHEREAS, Royce Bates was a member of Trinity Bible
14Missionary Church in Milan for 30 years where he served with
15distinction, locally, on the district level, and for the
16general church; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Royce Bates was preceded in death by his parents
18and his sister, Lois Hoof; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Royce Bates is survived by his wife; his children,
20Gayla (James) Howard, The Reverend Royce (DeAnna) Bates Jr.,

1and Leila (The Reverend Aaron) Dowd; his grandchildren, Chad
2(Kayla), Ashlyn, Neal, Trenton, Brenton, Jenna, Garren,
3Stewart, Kristen, Carson, Carter, Truitt, Shane, Jason,
4Lillyana, and Brooke; and his siblings, Rick (Denise) Bates,
5Randy (Gayle) Bates, and Kayla Bates; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Royce N. Bates and extend our sincere condolences to his
9family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
10further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Royce Bates as an expression of our
13deepest sympathy.
