SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Doris Emalyn Karnes of Bunker Hill, who
4passed away on March 26, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Doris Karnes was born to Henry and Cordelia
6Suhling of Dorchester on September 4, 1930; she graduated from
7Dorchester Elementary School and Shipman High School; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Doris Karnes worked at Famous Barr from 1979 until
9her retirement in 1999; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Doris Karnes was a member of Zion Lutheran Church
11in Bunker Hill, where she enjoyed serving on the altar guild
12and working at the sausage suppers; her love of gardening led
13her to be a member of the Beautification Committee in Bunker
14Hill and the Hemerocallis Society in Macoupin County; she
15volunteered at Staunton Hospital for many years; she enjoyed
16spending time with her family, tending to her bluebird houses,
17and raising her Dachshunds; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Doris Karnes was preceded in death by her parents
19and her sisters, Patricia Viehweg and Elinor Tschauder; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Doris Karnes is survived by her children, Virgil

1(Sally) Karnes, Debbie (John) Higgins, and Denise (Jim) Hessel;
2her grandchildren, Daniel (Keri) Karnes, Molly (Brent)
3Rosentreter, Emmy Karnes, Chris (Jessa) Wittman, Greg (Lisa)
4Wittman, and Lucas (Brittany) Wittman; her
5great-grandchildren, Paige Wittman, Maya Wittman, Ellie
6Wittman, Chase Wittman, Blake Wittman, Maddy Rosentreter, Colt
7Rosentreter, and Ty Rosentreter; and several nieces and
8nephews; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Doris Emalyn Karnes and extend our sincere condolences to her
12family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Doris Karnes as an expression of our
16deepest sympathy.
