SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The Illinois Senate is saddened to learn of the
3death of George William "Bill" Barton, who passed on January
413, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bill Barton was born to George and Mildred
6(Samples) Barton in Irondale, Missouri on March 25, 1932; he
7was a graduate of the University of Tennessee school of
8engineering, and his professional career stretched over 50
9years, including a tour in the U.S. Army and pioneering work
10for the American space program; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Bill Barton was known for his singular wit and
12always had a profound comment to make with perfect comedic
13timing; he was an avid sportsman, hunter, and conservationist;
14and
 
15    WHEREAS, The only thing Bill Barton loved more than the
16outdoors was his family; he frequented his grandchildren's
17sporting events and field trips whenever possible; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Bill Barton was preceded in death by his wife,
19Barbara (Clark) Barton; his infant son, John Barton; his
20parents, George and Mildred (Samples) Barton; his sisters, Mary
21Elizabeth Tipton and Patricia Kasson; his brother, Jack Barton;

1his brother-in-law, Tom Tipton; and his great-nephew, Devon
2Elbe; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Bill Barton is survived by his children, Kimberly
4Barton (Ted) Igielski, Nancy Barton, and Michael (Tobie)
5Barton; his grandchildren, Michael (Lacie) Molnar, Jamie (Jon)
6Musgrave, Ian and Connor Igielski, and Matthew, Delaney, and
7Joshua Barton; his six great-grandchildren; his sister, Jean
8(Dale) Elbe; his brother-in-law, Dick Kasson; and his numerous
9nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12George William "Bill" Barton and extend our sincere condolences
13to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
14it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Bill Barton as an expression of our
17deepest sympathy.
