SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of E. Philip Fager Jr. of Murphysboro, who
4passed away on January 23, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Philip Fager Jr. was born in the Old Zion part of
6Somerset Township to Ernest P. Fager and Alice (Mileur) Fager
7on April 28, 1922; he joined the U.S. Army in 1942 and served
8his country until 1945; he was awarded the Purple Heart; he
9married his first wife Geraldine "Gerry" O'Guinn at the First
10Lutheran Church in Murphysboro on March 30, 1947, and she
11preceded him in death on July 30, 1994; he later married
12Elizabeth Williams at the First Lutheran Church of Murphysboro
13on October 7, 1995, and she survives; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Alongside his brothers, Philip Fager Jr. owned and
15operated Fager Brothers Construction from 1954 to 1980; they
16worked throughout southern Illinois; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Philip Fager Jr. was a lifelong member of the
18First Lutheran Church of Murphysboro; he was also a member of
19the Carpenter's Union Local #638; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Philip Fager Jr. was preceded in death by his
21parents; his brothers, Danny, E.J., Victor, and Robert Fager;

1and his sister, Clarice Arbeiter; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Philip Fager Jr. is survived by his children,
3Wayne Fager, Dennis (Nancy) Fager, Barbara (Ron) Hansen, Mark
4(Donna) Fager, and Arthur (Catherine) Fager; his 11
5grandchildren, Eric (Emily) Fager, Rachel (Kent) Kreuger,
6Nathan (Kristin) Fager, Janelle (Jason) Pulcher, Benjamin
7Fager, Todd (Sarah) Fager, Melissa Korando, Nicholaus
8(Heather) Korando, Zachary (Tiffany) Fager, Adam (Amanda)
9Fager, and Elizabeth Fager; and his 22 great-grandchildren;
10therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13E. Philip Fager Jr. and extend our sincere condolences to his
14family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Philip Fager Jr. as an expression of
18our deepest sympathy.
