SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of John A. Math of Rock Island, who passed
4away on January 21, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John A. Math was born in Rock Island to Ferdinand
6and Hildagard (Just) Math on January 27, 1933; he graduated
7from St. Ambrose Academy in Davenport in 1951; he served in the
8U.S. Army during the Korean War; he married Minnette M. Sweers
9in Moline on July 28, 1953; and
 
10    WHEREAS, John A. Math worked for the Rock Island Railroad
11for 24 years; he served as president of the Rock Island
12Railroad Union for many years; he then worked at McLaughlin
13Body in Moline and retired in 1991; he also had a hobby job at a
14local car wash in Moline; and
 
15    WHEREAS, John A. Math was a member of the Knights of
16Columbus, 4th Degree Loras Assembly in Davenport and the
17Knights of Columbus 716 Leo Council in Silvis; he loved his
18family and was proud of all their achievements; and
 
19    WHEREAS, John A. Math was preceded in death by his parents;
20his sister-in-law, Bonnie Math; and his son-in-law, Tom
21Morrissey; and

1    WHEREAS, John A. Math is survived by his wife; his
2daughter, Christine Morrissey; his son, Steven Math; his
3sister, Lois (Fred) DeCoster; and his brother, Paul Math;
4therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7John A. Math and extend our sincere condolences to his family,
8friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of John Math as an expression of our
11deepest sympathy.
