SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of J. David "Dave" Pepper, who passed away
4on December 28, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dave Pepper was born in Evanston to Richard and
6Roxelyn Pepper on January 15, 1960; he graduated from Iowa
7State University with a degree in civil engineering; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Dave Pepper joined his family's business, the
9Pepper Construction Group, in 1985 as a field engineer and
10became CEO in 2003; he was a longtime supporter of green
11building strategies and oversaw hundreds of projects across the
12country each year, including many suburban landmarks; he helped
13guide the renovations at Wrigley Field in 2015; he lived his
14life in service to others and was widely known for his kindness
15and generosity; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Dave Pepper was known as a champion of education
17and held multiple leadership roles, including president of the
18Associated General Contractors (AGC) Education and Research
19Foundation; he was involved in workforce readiness and school
20mentoring programs; he served on the Providence St. Mel School
21Board of Trustees, the Dominican University Board of Trustees,
22and the Junior Achievement of Chicago's Board of Directors and

1Executive Committee; he served as a management trustee to the
2Chicago Regional Council of Carpenters; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Dave Pepper's life centered around his family and
4friends; he enjoyed cooking, boating, and traveling and
5frequently said that being part of his family was the best
6leadership lesson of his life; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Dave Pepper was a member at St. Michael's
8Episcopal Church, the Economic Club of Chicago, The Chicago
9Club, the Max McGraw Wildlife Foundation, and the Commercial
10Club of Chicago; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Dave Pepper is survived by his wife, Katy; his
12children, Ali, Lauren, and Colin; his parents; his brothers,
13Stan, Dick, and Scot; his sisters, Lynda and Lisa; and numerous
14nieces, nephews, cousins, and relatives; therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
16ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
17J. David "Dave" Pepper and extend our sincere condolences to
18his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
19further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to the family of Dave Pepper as an expression of our
