SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Richard L. VanderLeest of Colona, who
4passed away on January 15, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Richard VanderLeest was born in Denver, Colorado
6to Robert and Amelia "Billie" (Foxall) VanderLeest on February
74, 1943; he married Nancy Owens in Ohio, Illinois on September
820, 1970; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Richard VanderLeest served in the U.S. Army during
10the Vietnam era where he worked as a computer programmer, a
11position he held for over 20 years; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Richard VanderLeest was a member of the Vietnam
13Vets Chapter 299 in the Quad-Cities and the American Legion
14Post 1233 in Colona; he was also a Rock Island County Master
15Gardener; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Richard VanderLeest was preceded in death by his
17parents; his sister, Charlotte Morris; and his brother, Robert
18VanderLeest; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Richard VanderLeest is survived by his wife, Nancy
20VanderLeest; his aunt, Ione Brown; his uncle, Harold Horn Jr.;

1his brothers-in-law, Harry A. Owens, Jim (Patti) Owens, Jerry
2Owens, and Don (Judy) Morris; his sisters-in-law, Donna
3(Daniel) Heffernan, Susan (Dave) Moss, and Judy (Kirby) Marine;
4and his numerous nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7Richard L. VanderLeest and extend our sincere condolences to
8his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
9further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Richard VanderLeest as an expression
12of our deepest sympathy.
